I liked this enough to spotlight it here. My necklace didn't get into the polisher this weekend as we visited my MIL who lives two hours away. Le sigh!

| Books - Artist Trading Card Workshop |
[Sep. 1st, 2007|11:05 pm] |
I decided rather than spending hours on the web perusing ATCs, I'd see if my local library could give me a hand. Speaking of, it's amazing how many people don't use the library or think that's it's a waste...I can't find a better bang for $12 a year personally!
This book is called Artist Trading Card Workshop by Bernie Berlin and was published in 2003. It has a really good intro to the concept of ATCs as well as some techniques to apply to the cards, such as stencils, ink blotting, fabric, embossing, transfers, etc. which was really good. I could definitely see using some of these in future projects.
Speaking of which, I decided to do something about my paper horde and spent some time cutting up cardstock tooday. Watch for future ATCs coming down the pipe! |

My quest to make friends with markers continues. I wish when I was starting out I had chosen the colours more carefully. I went for all the bright, snazzy colours (if I find my first Prismacolor picture, I'll post it). The thing about markers is the layers - you can't really go back and "ligthen things up", so you put light colours down first, and gradually build them up. Here are two ACEOs I have recently completed and put on eBay. Friends of either of my LJs get a 25 cent shipping discount!
Check him out on eBay :-) There's actually lots of layers to him...it took me about an hour to get the values just right. First parts were too light, then too dark :-)

Cockatoo. This guy is going to be a future paper picture. I have all the paper, just need to make it into a picture!

| Three ACEOs About Alberta |
[Feb. 19th, 2007|06:59 pm] |
I'm trying to make friends with markers. 3 2.5"x3.5" ACEOs featuring the foothills, a hoodoo, and just an average prairie scene.
I have been busy Knifty Knitting as of late and haven't really had the time either to sit down and do anything. Driving lessons, wisdom tooth extraction, and more driving lessons are what's going on in March in April :-)
